SEED High School Internship
Requirements: student grades 9 through 12 in Boston or the Metro North region (prioritizing Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Revere, and Somerville)
Commitment: full time July 7 to August 15, 2025
Applications due April 25, 2025, with interviews May 5-9, 2025. Final decision by May 16, 2025.
Do you ever wonder who built the space you’re standing in? Are you curious about the way stuff works? Do you find yourself thinking about your surroundings and wondering how you can make them better?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, we would love to meet you! Apply to our six-week Summer Exploratory Experience in Design (SEED) internship and get paid $16.25 per hour for up to 30 hours a week. You will be working on a design project guided by experts in architecture, planning and urban design, landscape architecture, and other design fields. Gain an understanding of what it takes to design our surrounding and learn how you can make a difference in your community!
SEED Design Teaching Assistant
Requirements: second or third year in college OR second or third year post high school in the Boston area (SEED and DESI alum can apply as a first year in college)
Commitment: full time June 23 to August 18, 2025 (up to 35 hours per week), with the option to continue part time into the school year
Applications close on April 18, 2025. Interviews will take place on a rolling basis.
Are you a self-motivated and organized individual who enjoys teaching what you know to others? We are seeking teaching assistants with a background in architecture, planning and urban design, or landscape architecture to help guide our Summer Exploratory Experience in Design (SEED) internship program. The internship introduces youth to the field of design through a six-week collaborative group project. Each week, interns meet with experts in the design field to get advice on their project and visit interesting sites and organizations around the city. Teaching assistants play a crucial role in helping their teams comprehend the design concepts they are learning each week to help them succeed.
The rate for this position is $20 per hour. We anticipate you will spend approximately 35 hours per week, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is an in-person position based at 110 Chauncy Street in Boston.

Requirements: student grades 11 through 12 who are residents of Boston, Belmont, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Melrose, Revere, Somerville, or Watertown
Commitment: part time after school and Saturdays January through May

Do you ever look around and think of creative ways that you could improve a park, a building, or a process in your community? If so, we would love for you to join us and work on your own independent project based in your community. You will learn to draw, use design programs to visualize your ideas, and effectively communicate those ideas. You will also learn about social and environmental issues facing the communities that surround you.
At the Hideo Sasaki Foundation we partner with professionals in the design industry to mentor you through your project project and introduce you to the different careers you can pursue in design. From January to the beginning of May you will work after school and on Saturdays for $16.25/hour to design a solution to the issue you want to address.

The internship introduces youth to the field of design through an after-school independent project.
Youth learn to draw, use design software to visualize their ideas, and effectively communicate those ideas. Through this experience they will analyze their own communities and create design concepts that will address social and environmental issues facing their communities. Teaching assistants play a crucial role in helping their interns understand design and help keep them on track in their projects.
The rate for this position is $20 per hour. We anticipate you will spend up to 20 hours per week. This is an in-person position based at 110 Chauncy Street in Boston.
